One of the key aims of the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research is effective advocacy for research and to improve the health and wellbeing of all children. Therefore, the Institute welcomes and encourages news media interest in our programs. We are committed to ensuring that research findings are translated into therapies, policies and programs to make a real difference in the lives children and their families.
Our Director is Professor Jonathan Carapetis, an Australian paediatric physician with particular expertise in infectious disease and Indigenous child health. He is a Winthrop Professor, University of Western Australia and an Honorary Distinguished Research Fellow of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
Our Patron and Founding Director is Professor Fiona Stanley AC, 2003 Australian of the Year.
The Telethon Institute also has a number of senior researchers who are able to offer expert comment on a range of health and children's issues.
